Sean A. Floyd is a Senior Advisor for Scarlet Oak Strategies. In this capacity, Sean leads both the local District of Columbia public affairs practice and assists on grasstops public affairs work across the country.
Before working with Scarlet Oak, he served for three years as chief of staff to the Senior Advisor to Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser. As Chief of Staff, Mr. Floyd oversaw special projects and agency operations for the Office of Policy and Legislative Affairs, the Office of Federal and Regional Affairs, and the Office of the Secretary of the City, all divisions of The Office of the Senior Advisor. He also served as the Director of Scheduling for Mayor Bowser as well.
Sean’s campaign experience extends across all levels of political office. In addition to working on President Barack Obama’s successful re-election effort in Pennsylvania, his previous experiences extend to gubernatorial, mayoral, and local elections across the country. He also has experience working on national and local level issue-based campaigns. This vast understanding of campaigns and elections led to Mr. Floyd being appointed Adjunct Professor at The George Washington University, where he teaches a practicum on Campaigns and Elections. He is also certified in green infrastructure and stormwater drainage.
Sean’s other professional experience includes the National Association of State Workforces Agencies, the Democratic National Committee, and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. Mr. Floyd graduated from St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Minor in Africa/African Diaspora Studies.
His membership affiliations include the Board Member of the Black Student Fund, Board Member of the Distinguished Gentlemen, member of National Conference of Black Political Scientists, and member of the Young Philanthropist Society sponsored by the United Way. He also has a dedication and passion for youth mentoring.
