Niki Reading brings two decades of experience spanning journalism and strategic communications consulting to Scarlet Oak Strategies.
Niki spent the first decade of her career covering state politics and government in the Pacific Northwest. She worked in print, television, and online media to make complex public policy engaging and easy to understand. Her reporting has appeared in national publications including The Wall Street Journal, as well as The Oregonian, The News Tribune, Seattle Metropolitan Magazine, and nearly every daily publication in the Pacific Northwest via her work at The Associated Press.
She brings her broad journalism experience to her communications and media consulting work. With thoughtful data analysis, critical questioning, and a sharp eye for storytelling, she helps clients create and magnify compelling stories that support their public affairs objectives. She excels at helping clients navigate external and internal crisis communications.
She has worked with clients including Johnson & Johnson, Microsoft, Exelon, Golin, universities, state agencies and associations, nonprofits, startups, and healthcare clients.
Niki has a B.A. in Communications from Oregon State University. She lives in Bend, Oregon.
