After decades working on reducing tobacco use among youths, Truth Initiative expanded its mission to include opioid use prevention. Scarlet Oak Strategies utilized its field team network in Indiana, North Carolina, and Tennessee to engage relevant stakeholders; advocacy organizations; athletes, teams, and athletic organizations; community groups; student groups; prominent individuals; faith communities; and others, ensuring that Truth Initiative was well-positioned ahead of its campaign launch.

State legislative advocacy in Maryland: Building grasstops support in Maryland to end surprise medical billing.
Scarlet Oak Strategies developed and deployed a grasstops campaign in Maryland to show support from key stakeholders to end surprise medical billing, generating dozens of emails, texts, official letters, phone calls, and principal intercepts. The volume and quality of support we demonstrated helped push House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer to agree to allow the bill to be considered.

Grassroots mobilization in Louisiana, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee: Demonstrating support for federal infrastructure investments.

The National League of Cities wanted to show a broad spectrum of support for infrastructure investment among cities and stakeholders in Louisiana, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Our state teams generated a groundswell of public support in their states by delivering local TV and radio interviews of mayors and city officials; placing Op-Eds and LTES from councilmembers and business leaders; producing 100+ letters to target Members of Congress from city leaders and stakeholders; and facilitating conversation through social media channels.
Issue awareness at the state level in 11 states: Generating key stakeholder support across the United States for flood preparedness measures.
Our field teams in Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Kansas, Massachusetts, Maryland, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, and Virginia worked with small business owners to sign on and publicly support the Pew Charitable Trust’s work to raise awareness about the need for federal investments in flood-ready infrastructure improvements.

Generating grassroots support in Ohio: Engaging farmers in support of agriculture-friendly policies.
Our Ohio team worked with local farmers to raise their collective voice about Administration agricultural and trade policies, helping the Renewable Fuels Association demonstrate that its members are engaged and closely following what is happening in Washington.
